Over the last few months I have been working hard creating new drawings and experimenting with a few different themes. I always come back to sea creatures and woodland animals, sometimes with the addition of a mysterious lady. My most recent project however has been designing illustrations for notebooks and other illustrated gifts, which are due to be printed very soon (in the next coming week) once I have finalised all the designs.
One of my favourite new designs is my Seahorse; he is utterly majestic, in my humble opinion – ha! They really are marvelous little creatures and truly unique to look at, so are a great subject matter. But, that’s enough of me waffling about it, here he is in all of his glory:
This drawing is a combination of two drawings: the seahorse and the seaweed together with digital painting. I can’t wait to see the final product printed.
Sorry that it has been a long while since I have posted a blog, but you can see what I’ve been up to on my work in progress page or by following @gracescreations on good old Instagram.
I really enjoy Instagram, it’s a great platform for connecting with other artists and finding really beautiful imagery. I’m a convert.
Have a lovely Saturday.
I have always loved the sea, well looking at it at least. There is something magical and breathtaking about it and of course it is home to some of the most wondrous creatures and plants.I love a good coastal theme too so it was on natural to use the ocean and its contents as a source of inspiration for my artwork and illustration.
My new project is based on the sea, but like many of my drawings or paintings I wanted to include and element of storytelling. This combination of themes can be seen most plainly in my jellyfish series of drawings…here is a preview…
Sometimes you plan drawings…sometimes you don’t – I find the ones that aren’t planned are stronger. This concept wasn’t planned, it just happened. A3 in size it is a larger piece. It is part of a series, you’ll have seen snippets if you follow me on instagram.
Here is another drawing in progress…
And another, but this one involves digital painting…
So this is just one side of my under the sea theme, there shall be more to come, I’m really enjoying exploring the depths of the ocean!
Happy June everybody!
That’s right, it’s June and it feels a lot like winter. To celebrate this wonderful fact (I’m not being sarcastic…I swear…*ahem*) here is a very British June inspired artwork/sketch…
This bird seems happy enough to be wearing a scarf at this time of year…I’m not sure I am!
I have a new drawing to share (see below); this was created with pencil, pastel and digital painting…whilst listening (that’s right!) to the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Audio books are a great way to read whilst getting other things done! Although, you don’t have the pleasure of a wonderful book cover, which in all honesty is my favourite thing about a book!
So, there you go, another short and sweet post from myself, next time I’ll do a longer one, but it’s my birthday today so I think you can forgive me!
Just a quick post to showcase my new cushions, well 2 of them, there are many more to be created…
They are to be added to my shop very shortly, a long side many more unique designs. If anyone would like to request a specific artwork to be featured on a cushion, simply let me know and I’ll make sure that it’s included.
I’ll announce when they are available, but I’m awaiting some more material and cushion pads so I can make some more.
I hope you like! I promise I’ll update my blog more in the new few months, it’s been a very busy start to the year!
Hello, happy March!
It’s been a busy few months, I’ve been completing a few commissions, but now I’ve had some time to create some brand new drawings which I shall be introducing you to in my next few blogs. So here is my new creation…the Bear in the Beret! He was drawn with both pencil and ink and is actually a part of a series together with many other bears all dressed in fabulous fashion!
This drawing was so much fun to create, and it may even get a splash of colour to jazz it up a bit. You can see more of this series in my gallery of animal drawings, and more shall be coming soon alongside some other new characters, plus you can now buy prints from my onsite shop – there are a few prints available at the moment, however there will be more items (including printed cushions) to come so expect to find exclusive quirky illustrated gifts here!
If you are interested in purchasing an original drawing or would like a commission please get in contact! To see works in progress and what I’m up to follow me on Instagram @gracescreations
Happy new year everybody, I know it’s now the 18th of January and I’m a little late…but it’s better late than never I suppose. I was very busy over Christmas working on various commissions and January is working out the same! I love a good commission, so if you would like a specific something for your loved ones, let me know – just give me an email.
Anyway, this is going to be one of my favourite type of blogs…FULL OF PICTURES! As I’ve been very bad and haven’t posted for a couple of months (wow!), I’ve got quite a few new images to share with you.
So here we go…(sorry about the watermarks, but people do enjoy to steal images without permission – not cool.)

This is a new drawing/digital painting as part of my ‘Time Flies’ series.
The Barn Owl & the Pocket Watch
Wagtail & Pocket Watch
I’d like to thank everyone that voted for me in the Oh Deer Pillow Fight, unfortunately I didn’t win, however I did sell quite a few and the cushions looked fantastic!

Hope you have a lovely weekend, email me at email@example.com for more information about commissions etc!
I’ve been sketching a lot lately, and I’ve created a rather strange drawing that I’ve aptly (in my opinion!) titled; Growth. Of course, it is just a sketch at the moment but I’m hoping to refine it and create a fairly large drawing from it. But for now let me introduce you to the brand new sketch from my collection:
It has been a while since my last update, sorry about that, I’ve been a busy beaver and I have some exciting news to share, so here goes! 3 of my designs are currently for sale on Ohh Deer for a limited time only! This is a part of the Pillow Fight competition, where artists and designers can submit designs for sale, but that isn’t all the lucky winner will get to join the Ohh Deer brand, and for those of you who’ve heard of this incredible store will know that that is pretty much A BIG DEAL!
So, how can you help? Well, all you need to do is head to the website and like, share or even buy my cushion designs; I’m going to post them below though!

This competition is hugely exciting and I’ve already sold a few on there, which is always a positive place to be! Honestly I’m just so pleased at how amazing my designs look on these cushions, so let’s just wait and see how I do. Wish me luck and please support me on my quest!

Good news, today I’m going to introduce you to some new animal art! Huzzah! I did this little illustrative piece a couple of weeks ago and it’s featuring one of my favourite characters that I’ve created…Sammy Seal. Here she is in all of her glory:
Sammy Seal features in a childrens book that I wrote titled, ‘Peter Penguins Red Balloon’, yes it is as exciting as it sounds. It was a gift for my first niece’s first Christmas. You can see the original Sammy Seal in my digital paintings section as part of my gallery, together with the beautiful Peter Penguin himself! Expect him to return very shortly, as I am busy creating a few special things for Christmas time. It may be only the start of September, but there’s a lot to get done, I’m hoping to attend a few craft fairs, so, of course, I need some brand new stock!
A few weeks ago I posted a blog about a mermaid painting that I started, now I still haven’t finished it as I have been busy with other projects, however, I thought I’d share how it’s coming a long…so here she is….(that’s right a double whammy of exciting art!)
Mermaid Painting in Progress
She still needs a lot of work, but I hope to have her finished soon, I may print the digital version and work into it traditionally – I love this technique, as I adore both traditional and digital techniques…plus it makes things a little more exciting! I really want to give this painting have an eerie, magical feeling, with the way that she is staring with that watch, I don’t think that will be too difficult, do you?
Anyway, I shall leave you with this, I hope you like it. You can view more art at my website and if you would like more information either comment below or send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
