Exhibition 2nd Jan - 28 Feb at the Whale Tail!
Hello and welcome to the month of January! I must admit, I should’ve posted this announcement two weeks ago, but honestly, who really has the desire to engage in much of anything during the chilly and quiet month of January? Apparently, I do, as I’m feeling motivated and inspired. I’m thrilled to share with you that I currently have an exhibition taking place at the Whale Tail Cafe in the charming town of Lancaster. The exhibition runs from January 2nd through February 28th, so if you find yourself in the area, or if you’re looking to make a special trip to visit the Historic Lancaster, I warmly invite you to come and see it. I will be showcasing a diverse range of my originals and prints, including several pieces that have never been displayed to the public before.
How to find it…
The Whale Tail is a vegetarian cafe and serves delicious food, so you can get yourself a lovely lunch whilst you’re enjoying the artwork. You can see where it is on the map below.
I do hope that you find time to visit! Have a fantastic 2025!
New Prints in the Store!
Hello! The wait is finally over, and I am thrilled to announce that I have just added new prints to my store, huzzah!
I’ve been diligently working on these unique artworks for over a year, and they encompass a delightful mix of landscape drawings, showcasing a variety of different drawing techniques. Each piece represents a journey that has led me back to my deep and enduring love of drawing, so as you can imagine, they hold a very special place in my heart.
This is just the beginning of my journey into exploring the local landscape and far beyond with the art of drawing. I’m a firm believer in the act of drawing as a form of meditation, but I also view the act of engaging with artwork as a meaningful way to escape the everyday, run-of-the-mill activities of life and delve into the depths of your imagination. A drawing serves as the foundation of a captivating story, acting as a window into the past, the present, or even the distant future – it truly stands as a powerful form of communication. From my eyes, to my imagination, to your eyes, and back to your imagination, this exchange becomes a rich tapestry of shared experiences and ideas.
The originals were showcased at the Lancaster Art Fair back in August, an event run by the incredibly skilled ink artist Hannah Corbett, who is also based in Lancaster. There were so many wonderful comments shared by attendees, and I am pleased to say that a couple of the originals were sold, which fills me with joy! I was initially a little worried about how my new artwork would be received, as I’ve shifted direction just a bit. But rest assured, I am still as intrigued by themes of fantasy, dreams, and imagination as I was before; it’s just that my approach now reflects a different perspective.
Thank you!
I truly hope that you love these prints just as much as I cherished the process of creating the original artworks. My desire is that you can use them to evoke your own unique sense of calm and to inspire the creation of your very own stories through the act of viewing them. Every thoughtful comment and every purchase means an incredible amount to me as an artist, so thank you sincerely in advance for your support!
Who am I? An Artist I am.
Hello! Welcome to my new website. Hopefully, it’s a little better organised than my last one, but if you haven’t been here before, hello, I hope that you return.
First things first though, I better introduce myself, I’m Grace Owen, an artist living in Lancaster but born in Wigan.

First things first though, I better introduce myself, I’m Grace Owen, an artist living in Lancaster but born in Wigan. I’m a northern artist and proud of it - we’re a bit overlooked in the art world, but we could say that about any artist outside of London! Anyway, who needs the old stuffy art world when you have the whole world at the touch of your fingertips? So thank you for discovering my artwork in the wild, wild interweb - I hope that you enjoy it.
‘Discovering Dhoon’ Ink, 2024
Drawing is my medium of choice. Ink is my weapon of choice. Drawing is immediate, I use it as a tool of exploration, dreaming and imagination. It’s what I turn to in times of trouble and times of joy. In my current project; ‘The Lines of my Earth’, (you’ll hear a lot about this, sorry, it’s interesting I swear.) I use ink to explore the natural world around me and just lose myself in the act of drawing.
I also use drawing to create stories, explore my subconscious and delve into my dreams with another part the series. It’s such a varied medium. Most of my landscapes are created monochrome to represent memories, whereas my subconscious work features colour and a figurative element.

In this blog, I’ll provide you with insightful ramblings about projects. I don’t take myself too seriously, so expect sarcasm, sentences where I try to be funny. Sometimes, I’ll be intelligent and sometimes I’ll even write poetry. Hopefully you’ll come back! Until I write another blog do check out the gallery!
See you soon!
